I am sleepy…even very sleepy…first too weeks of an internship by DC SEA Treasury are really tough! Much to learn, even more to understand. And still, it is going to be even more challenging when I stay alone on my intern-post, which means – beginning next week. Then my forerunner, Karin, who is training me now like crazy, and she is doing it very very WELL
, will leave. This means, all that I managed to learn and undertand and all that i didnt manage to learn and understand will have to be done by me, and ONLY by me.
But…let us not dramatize. After all, I understand a lot
and, what’s most impotrant-I am defenitely very interested in the issues that will be my daily life by DCSEA Treasury the next 6 months.
I got my green card ! It is valid untli 17th July , which actually makes me a little bit worried. My flight back is scheduled for 23th…so I am going to spend a couple days without the visa. But, this all can be clarified – must be… the legal system is… slighty speeking…. VERY STRICT!
ohh..I forgot to mention my room, and that is actually why I got up (after nearly falling asleep on our nice sofa) ,in order to spend in front of the computer at least the 15th hour today already. So…my room is called a MASTER ROOM. Very fine name, don’t you think? Well, it is called like this because it is big, and nice…and big…and nice…:) yes, and it has its own bathroom, and own fridge, and a big TV (I will not go into the very sad issue that there is nothing to watch in that TV ), its own stereo set, hmm, the sofa ! one must not forget the sofa ! and telephone, and TWO (2) air cons. oh, and microwave. YEs, it is all in the room. apart from that, there is a nice kitchen, and two friendly German neighbours (one of them has a Polish girlfriend, who happens to visit her now in SIngapore, so I’ve even got the chance to have a cosy polish chat by dinner for the last couple days – last thing I expected here…).THe MASTER ROOM is expensive, BUT, Patric is coming very soon ! a shared MASTER ROOM is not that expensive any more
let me share with you one more experience.I had this unique oppotunity today to try Indonesian food today. THE REAL ; AUTHENTIC one. It was pretty costly, but I really enjoyed it and prepare a seperate budget for all other cuisines worldwide, offered in the Authentic version in Singapore
ohh…something pops into my mind again… the ladies here belong probably to the most elegant and trendy in the world. They dress really nicely, very fine dresses amd all size 35-36!!!really sweet
… when I look at them in the shops the dresses seem to have baby size. Once I enetered a shop and noticed all the baby blouses and wanted to leave…when I realized this is NOT a shop with clothes for children. well, well…but let’s not exaggerate
I haven’t stopped being sleepy so let me thank you for your comments and hear from you later!
My 1. Week – A GREAT week

As you probably all realize, I am still amazed by all that I have been confronted with during my first week here…first impression: it’s HOT ! and HUMID ! and GREEN ! VERY GREEN ! second impression: (after ca. 2 hours, when I went for my first local meal: THE FOOD IS GREAT; EXOTIC …it is SO INTERESTING to try all the new spicies, vegetables, sea food, sushi, chinese food, indian food, thai food…etc etc etc And in addition you can eat really cheap here…ofcourse it is all very relative…I mean: all German interns who I talk to ( and live with, since the apartments where I stay are all filled up with German interns
) consider the prices here to be EXTREMELY low ! but … but. for a Polish girl it is certainly not EXTREMELY cheap…it is just…lets say…not tooo expensive. And, its true that one can eat delicious things for quite little money, especially comparing to Western Europe.
Well, what else….as I have already mentioned, the plaza apartments are full of nice German interns. The majority is DaimlerChrysler ofcourse…but competitors like VW has also strong representation.
I get along with them really well…however, it is certainly very important to look around and try to meet with people who grew up here and know the completely other side of singaporian reality…, try to understand what kind of poeple they are, what they think, how they live…thats something I am defenitely going to work on here!!!
So I even already had some experience: for example, a rather private but still big party and many many sweet small, “nicely shaped(:))” very young Singaporian girls, dancing and drinking POLISH VODKA(Wyborowa) !!! and believe me, not many European gentlemen can stay indifferent to that…
the Ladies here in general dress nice adn classy, they really take care of themselves, have nice clothes…make careeres…etc etc (emancipation has a strong meaning here defenitely!). It happens more often than one thinks to hear from a European guy: “I am defenitely going to marry an Asian girl” but, I am pretty sure, we, European women will not be forgotten in this Asian Beauty Jungle…who knows, maybe we can even be discovered again, as much more beautiful and interesting than somebody could think
well, thats at least what I hope for
I willg o to bed now…Its getting really late now…still it is so wierd to realize that Patric has still a half of the day ahead of him… the 7 hours time difference is really A LOT…never realized that. And jet leg ? it may turn out to be a pretty big problem for many of us. Approximately for a week I was falling asleep only at the sunrise and was terribly tired during the whole day here, when my friends in Europe sleep like babies…but, now I seem to have adjusted
hmm…sometimes I imagine I am the only polish girl on this island…which of course is not true…but …almost true
good night , and let me hear from you!
